It's the perfect choice for those who prefer to be away from the chaotic city centre. The hotel is situated beside a green park in a residential area, which is well connected to the rest of the city by public transport.
Public Transport Links
By train: The main train and metro station in Rome is Termini. To get from here to the hotel, catch the underground Line A (direction of Battistini) and get off at Cornelia Metro Station. This is the nearest metro station to the hotel. When in Cornelia Metro Station, look for an exit called 'Boccea' and then continue in the direction of Via della Pineta Sacchetti. It's about a good 15 minute walk to the hotel along this street. You know you're coming close to the hotel when you see the pine trees on the right hand side of the street. The Pinewood Hotel is located on your left hand side about 100m from the road.
If you have luggage you can catch buses number 49 - 446 - 994 from Via Tardini (outside the metro station), which will drop you off in front of the hotel after two stops.
By car: From Rome's main ring road Grande Raccordo Anulare, take the exit number 1 for Roma Aurelia until you reach Piazza Irnerio. Here, follow the signs for Via della Pineta Sacchetti and when you arrive at this street, you'll see the Pinewood Hotel on your left.
How To Get From The Nearest Airport
The main airport in Rome is called Fiumicino and it's about 25km from the hotel. Probably the easiest and quickest way to get to the hotel is to take the 'Leonardo Express' train from the airport directly to Termini Station. From here catch the underground Line A (direction of Battistini), get off at Cornelia Metro Station and follow directions as explained above.
If you have heavy luggage you could always grab a taxi to the hotel, you'll find them parked outside the arrivals hall.
The hotel also provides a shuttle service from the airport. It costs about EUR50.00 for two people.
How To Get To Rome's Top Attractions
Although located in the Vatican District, it's about half an hour's walk to St. Peter's Basilica and Square, the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel. The best way to get to the Vatican is to get on the number 49 bus, which stops outside the hotel.
To visit the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and Domus Aurea, take the metro from Cornelia Metro Station (direction Anagnina) and get off at Termini Station. Here, jump on the blue Line B (direction Laurentina) and get off at the second stop, which is Colosseo Metro Station. You can also walk to the Pantheon and the old historic centre from here.
If you want to visit the Spanish Steps, then get the metro from Cornelia Metro Station (direction of Anagnina) and get off at Spagna Metro Station. The Spanish Steps are no more than a five minute stroll from this station and you can also walk to other attractions like the Trevi Fountain and Villa Medici.
The best way to get to the Basilica of San Giovanni is to get the metro from Cornelia Metro Station (direction Anagnina) and get off at San Giovanni Metro Station, which is located just across the road in front of the basilica.
For nightlife and shopping you don't have to go too far, as the popular Via di Boccea is just a ten minute walk from the hotel. From the hotel entrance, take a right and then a second right onto Via Urbano. This street will bring you onto Via di Boccea.
