getting there rome

How to get to Rome:

Most people get to Rome by air and land at Leonardo da Vinci Airport. This airport is also known as Fiumicino and is situated 30km from the city centre. (Charter flights usually fly into Ciampino airport 15km from the city centre). If you arrive in Fiumicino Airport you can get on the ‘Treni’ for the city centre, which is a shuttle to Rome’s main station Stazione Termini.

You can also get a taxi from the airport, which takes about one hour to the city centre, depending on traffic. The taxi is more expensive than the train, but might be worth it if you have a lot of luggage.

If you arrive in Rome by train or bus, you are more than likely going to arrive at the Stazione Termini, this is the train, bus and subway transportation hub for all of Rome.
