Getting around Rome:

Rome is one of the best cities to see by foot or bike, as a lot of the sights are clustered together. The inner city is pedestrianized, therefore you will have to do some walking whether you like it or not, so make sure to wear comfortable flat shoes as most of the streets are cobbled.

Driving in Rome is not recommended, as the historic centre of Rome is closed to traffic (although you will be allowed to drive to your hotel).

Rome also has an excellent underground or Metro system, which will bring you right into some tourist destinations. It has Line A and Line B, both which meet at the Central Station called ‘Termini'. Tickets for the Metro can be bought at tobacco shops, newsstands and vending machines.

A bus service is also available to take you to most parts of Rome but it can be slow in the traffic and sometimes crowded. You can get a taxi at one of the cities taxi ranks or phone one any time of the day, but they can be expensive.
